A device for applying negative pressure to a wound, comprising: a negative pressure source configured to connect to a wound dressing； a power source configured to supply power to the device； an controller configured to: monitor the duration of the negative pressure source； and determine a threshold on-time based on, at least in part, the values of the potential of the power source and the operating time of the device. 2. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that it further comprises a wound dressing configured to be able to be placed above the wound and create a substantially fluid tight seal over the wound. The device according to any one of paragraphs. 1-2, characterized in that the controller is additionally configured so as to: activate a source of negative pressure； and provide an indication in response to exceeding the turn-on time by a threshold value of the turn-on time. 4. The device according to claim 3, characterized in that the indication includes turning off the source of negative pressure.
