PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition effective to reduce or prevent lipid peroxidation upon exposure of a lipid to UV light.SOLUTION: There is provided a composition of a synergistically effective ratio of a hydroxamic acid, salt and/or a complex thereof and an antioxidant. The composition is effective to reduce or prevent lipid peroxidation upon exposure of a lipid to UV light. There is also provided a method for using personal care and other formulations are used to increase the antioxidant potential of an antioxidant.
