PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel lock device for a wheelchair capable of safely and reliably releasing a wheel lock when a user is seated.SOLUTION: The wheel lock device to automatically lock the rotation of a wheel 3 of the wheelchair when the user gets away from a seat surface 6 comprises a disk 4 that is fixed on the wheel 3 and on which an engagement hole 8 is circumferentially arranged at regular intervals and a device body 2 equipped with a braking pin 16 formed so as to be inserted into/pulled out of the engagement hole 8 of the disk 4. The braking pin 16 moves in response to a load applied on the seat surface 6. When the load is applied on the seat surface 6, the braking pin 16 is moved toward the direction to be pulled out of the engagement hole 8 and when no load is applied on the seat surface 6, the braking pin 16 is moved toward the direction to be inserted into the engagement hole 8.
