PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants-type absorbent article which solves problems associated with known underpants-type articles.
SOLUTION: A main unit (4) comprises a front section (5) and a back section (6). The front section and the back sections are bonded along opposing longitudinal side edges to form a hip opening and a pair of leg openings. At least one of the front and back sections comprises an elastic web material (10). The article further has a crotch section (7) arranged between the front and back sections in the longitudinal direction of the article. The front section has a predetermined length (b1) in the longitudinal direction, the back section has a predetermined length (b3) in the longitudinal direction, and the crotch section has a predetermined length (b2) in the longitudinal direction. An absorbent assembly (3) is arranged at least on the crotch section and overlaps the front and back sections with predetermined lengths. The absorbent assembly overlaps <20% of or preferably <10% of the surface area of the front and back sections respectively when measured while the article is in an extended condition.
