PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing extracts of red ginseng, Angelica gigas NAKAI, Schizandra chinensis BAALL., and Curcuma longa L. for preventing or treating liver cancer is provided to enhance drug efficacy and to reduce side effects. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating liver cancer contains extracts of 100-500 parts by weight of red ginseng, 50-200 parts by weight of Angelica gigas NAKAI, 20-200 parts by weight of Schizandra chinensis BAALL., and 20-200 parts by weight of Curcuma longa L. as active ingredients. The composition additionally contains 100-500 parts by weight of Lycium chinense Miller, 50-200 parts by weight of Cornus officinalis, and 50-200 parts by weight of Rubus coreanus. The composition has antixodative activity. The extracts are prepared using water, C1-C4 alcohols, acetone, ether, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, chloroform, methylene chloride, hexane, 1,3-butylene glycol, and a mixture thereof.
