PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately detect an opened/closed state of an eye.
SOLUTION: A face direction detection part 121 detects a direction of a face of a person based on a face image that is an image of the face of the person photographed by a camera 111. An eye detection part 122 detects size of an eye of the person based on the face image. An opening/closing degree calculation part 123 calculates an opening/closing degree wherein an opening/closing degree showing opening condition of the eye of the person based on the size of the eye of the person in the face image is corrected to a value when seeing the face of the person from the front based on the detected direction of the face of the person. The detection device can be applied to an onboard device detecting an opened/closed state of an eye of a driver.
