A bariatric device (15 - 915), comprising a body (16 - 916) having a wall (17 - 917) defining a lumen (18 - 918) for the passage of food, said wall (17c - 917c) made up of self-extendable coated material characterized in that said wall (17 - 917) is configured to generally the shape and size of the proximal cardiac portion of the stomach and adapted to exert radial pressure on the proximal cardiac portion of the stomach, thereby influencing a neurohormonal feedback mechanism of the patient to cause at least partial satiety by augmenting fullness caused by food and simulating fullness in the absence of food and characterized by a fixation system (21 - 921) that is adapted to fix said wall against the proximal cardiac portion of the stomach.
