1. A fluid injection composition comprising: (a) at least one biodegradable thermoplastic polymer that is at least substantially insoluble in body fluids； (b) a biocompatible polar aprotic organic fluid, including amides, complex ethers, carbonates, lactams, ethers, sulfonyls or any combination thereof； which has solubility in an aqueous medium or a liquid medium of an organism ranging from insolubility to complete solubility in all ratios； and (c) from 1 wt.% to 30 wt.% buprenorphine, its metabolite or prodrug； where the specified composition in situ is converted into a solid implant due to contact with water, body fluid or other aqueous medium. The fluid composition according to claim 1, wherein the biodegradable thermoplastic polymer is a polyester formed by one or more hydroxycarboxylic acids, or a polyester formed by a combination of one or more diols and one or more dicarboxylic acids. The fluid composition according to claim 2, wherein the polyester is polylactide, polyglycolide, polycaprolactone, polyorthoester, their copolymer, their ternary copolymer, or any combination thereof. The fluid composition of claim 3, wherein the polyester is 50/50, 55/45, 60/40, 65/35, 70/30, 75/25, 80/20, 85/15, 90/10 or 95/5 poly (DL-lactide-glycolide) having a carboxy terminal group, or is 50/50, 55/45, 60/40, 65/35, 70/30, 75/25, 80/20, 85/15, 90 / 10 or 95/5 poly (DL-lactide-glycolide) without a carboxy end group. 5. The fluid composition according to any one of claims 2 to 4, wherein the biodegradable thermoplastic polyester is present in an amount of from about 5 wt.% To about 95 m�1.
