The present invention is related to novel oral compositions comprising anirreversible gastric H'/K-ATPase protonpump inhibitor (PPI) as a gastric acid secretion inhibitor and one or moresmall carboxylic acid molecules as parietal cell activatorsin the gastric lumen. Unexpectedly, the compositions of the present inventionare capable of enhancing the anti- acid activityof PPI in the stomach. The present invention further relates to a method ofusing such compositions to reduce gastric acidsecretion in a mammal.
