PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair cosmetic of a type of not being washed away, which essentially modifies the hair, improves gloss and setting properties of the hair and has an excellent feel and to provide a method for modifying the hair.
SOLUTION: The hair cosmetic of a type of not being washed away comprises (A) a 2-8C organic dicarboxylic acid which may contain a hydroxy group or its salt, (B) an organic solvent selected from the group consisting of an aromatic alcohol, an N-alkylpyrrolidone, an alkylene carbonate, propylene glycol, a lactone and a cyclic ketone and having a ClogP of -2 to 3, (C) beeswax and/or a sunflower oil, (D) a surfactant and (E) water and has pH of 2-5 at 25°C when diluted with water 20 times by weight. The method for modifying the hair comprises treating the hair with the hair cosmetic.
