PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base agent for a hair cosmetic which is excellent in hairdressing properties, re-hairdressing properties, holding power, and detergency, and can be blended into either an emulsion type preparation or an aerosol preparation instead of a solid oil content.SOLUTION: A nonionic copolymer contains a constitutional unit derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having an alkylene oxide chain represented by any one of formulas (1) to (4) at a side chain in an ester bond or an amide bond.
