Nanocrystalline phosphocalcic compound having an apatite structure with antimicrobial and non-stoichiometric properties, is new. The compound comprises a surface layer of hydrated non-apatite phospho-calcium. The layer is doped with an antimicrobial agent consisting of silver ion, copper ion, zinc ion and/or an oxygenated species including oxygen ion, oxygen, superoxide ion or peroxide ion.L'invention concerne un composé phospho-calcique nanocristallin de structure apatitique à propriétés antimicrobiennes, non-stœchiométrique, comportant une couche de surface phospho-calcique hydratée non-apatitique, et dopé par au moins un agent antimicrobien choisi parmi l'ion argent Ag+, l'ion cuivre Cu2+, l'ion zinc Zn2+ ou une espèce oxygénée telle que l'ion oxygène O2-, l'oxygène O2, l'ion superoxyde O2-, ou l'ion peroxyde O22-, ou par une combinaison de tels agent antimicrobiens. Ce composé est notamment utilisable pour la fabrication de matériaux à propriétés antimicrobiennes, en particulier à visée médicale.
