A catheter of the present invention includes a long and flexible tubular body, a plurality of operating lines which are housed inside the tubular body and connected to the distal portion of the tubular body in its leading end, an operating body located on the base end of the tubular body and a bending operation portion. The bending operation portion has engaging portions which engage with the base ends of the operating lines and bends the distal portion of the tubular body by adding traction to each operating line individually by pulling manipulation. The bending operation portion is formed so as to be capable of moving relative to the operating body.
