A method for producing a salmon having a mild reddish orange flesh colour that comprises cultivating the salmon with a feed comprising astaxanthin, phoenicoxanthin, canthaxanthin and adonixanthin. The content of astaxanthin in the feed is 20 to 100 mg/kg, and the content of phoenicoxanthin is 5 to 80 mg/kg. The fish produced by the method has phoenicoxanthin and astaxanthin in the flesh of the fish at a ratio of 5 to 80 percent (content of phoenicoxanthin in respect of astaxanthin).
