A cultivation system comprises an elongate support member 12, the support member 12 being provided with a longitudinal feature 20, and a growing medium 26 carried by the support member 12, the growing medium 26 defining a co-operating longitudinal feature 30 with which the longitudinal feature 20 of the support member 12 interengages. The growing medium may be of generally mushroom cross-section. The growing medium may take the form of a pair of blocks of a growing material located side by side with a plastics bag, the blocks being spaced apart to define the co-operating feature. The growing medium maybe located with a rigid tray shaped to define the co-operating feature. The support member may be supported upon a plurality of legs which may be telescopic.
