PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that if a configuration that allows a vertically and horizontally wide range to be imaged is adopted, it is difficult to maintain a sufficient frame rate for the display of a moving image since it is difficult to mount a large-scale high-performance signal processing circuit on a product with a narrow component mounting space.SOLUTION: An electronic scope is configured so as to include designation means for designating an imaging direction, an area sensor in which a plurality of pixel areas having predetermined aspect ratios are arranged in an image circle of an imaging lens, and setting means for setting one pixel area where read-out of an image signal is carried out from the plurality of pixel areas. The plurality of pixel areas include a reference pixel area that serves as a reference, and at least one sub pixel area arranged at a position according to the imaging direction with respect to the reference pixel area.
