An enrobed product 106, such as a compressed tablet or caplet 100, comprises first and second gelatin film coating portions 102a,102b which enrobe the product, the coating portions being sealed together along seal line 107 encircling the product and at least one of the first and second coating portions including an opening 104 which exposes the product, such that acid from the stomach of the user contacts the product which expands or swells and ruptures a gelatin coating for controlled release of the product. The opening may be added by a pin in rotary die system which punctures the film of the coating.
