PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition containing microcapsule particles having stability in a coating composition and discharge controllability of an active component in a coated film, to provide a coated film containing the microcapsule particles having stability in a coating composition and discharge controllability of an active component in a coated film, and to provide an article having discharge controllability of an active component.SOLUTION: A coating composition contains microcapsule particles, where the microcapsule particles have a shell of a resin layer, an active component is included by the shell, the resin layer contains a resin, the resin is an organic resin, a silicone resin having an aromatic group or a combination thereof, and when the resin of the resin layer is an organic resin, the microcapsule particles contain a photocatalyst in the resin layer, and the resin layer is partially decomposed by light. A coated film is formed from the coating composition.
