PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To feed a solution for washing and calibration by secluding a sensor from outside while the sensor is inserted into a blood vessel.SOLUTION: A catheter to be inserted into a blood vessel includes: a hollow outer barrel provided at the distal end and having a blood inlet penetrating from inside to outside a hollow inner barrel provided inside the outer barrel and having an opening at the distal end an electrochemical sensor provided between the outer barrel and the inner barrel for measuring the blood introduced into the outer barrel from the blood inlet and a valve element provided inside the outer barrel for closing either the blood inlet or the opening of the inner barrel by moving inside the outer barrel.
