PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical access assembly used for minimally invasive surgical procedures.SOLUTION: The surgical access assembly 100 is an access member 100 having a proximal end 110a and a distal end. The access member is a tissue engaging member 130 including an access member having at least one lumen through which the access member is inserted and defining a longitudinal axis, and a membrane 132 having the proximal end the distal end. The proximal end and the distal end have openings on both sides. The membrane has a passage through which the membrane to receive the access member passes.
