The present invention relates to effervescent formulations comprising genistein with an average particle size (d50) in the range of 1 to 300 μm as active agent. The present invention also relates to pharmaceutical formulations with high bioavailability comprising calcium, genistein and vitamin D in order to be used in prophylaxis and treatment of osteoporosis and related diseases.
