PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric reel in which operability is improved while achieving miniaturization and weight reduction of the electric reel.SOLUTION: An electric reel 8 includes a reel body 12, a spool 14, a motor 16, an operation unit 18, a power receiving unit 20, a rotation detection unit 22 and a transmitting unit 28. The reel body 12 has a frame 34 and a thumb rest 36, as well as a first side cover and a second side cover. The frame 34 comprises a first side plate 34a and a second side plate. The thumb rest 36 is arranged so as to be separated from a pole mounting leg 32 rather than a shaft center X of the spool 14. The first side cover 38 and the second side cover are provided to cover the first side plate 34a and the second side plate, individually. The operation unit 18 is provided to operate the motor 16. The power receiving unit 20 receives electric power for driving the motor 16 from the outside. The rotation detection unit 22 detects the rotation of the spool 14. The transmitting unit 28 converts information concerning the detection results of the rotation detection unit 22 into a signal, and performs wireless transmission to the outside.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4【課題】電動リールの小型化及び軽量化を図りつつ操作性を向上させる。【解決手段】電動リール８は、リール本体１２とスプール１４とモータ１６と操作部１８と受電部２０と回転検出部２２と発信部２８とを備える。リール本体１２は、フレーム３４、サムレスト３６、並びに第１側カバー及び第２側カバー、を有する。フレーム３４は、第１側板３４ａ及び第２側板を含む。サムレスト３６は、スプール１４の軸心Ｘよりも竿装着脚部３２から離反して配置される。第１側カバー３８及び第２側カバーは、第１側板３４ａ及び第２側板を個別に覆う。操作部１８は、モータ１６を操作するために設けられる。受電部２０は、モータ１６を駆動する電力を外部から受ける。回転検出部２２は、スプール１４の回転を検出する。発信部２８は、回転検出部２２の検出結果に関する情報を信号化し、外部に無線発信する。【選択図】図４
