PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spool braking device that prevents a user from being impacted at the landing decision.SOLUTION: A spool brake mechanism of a dual-bearing reel brakes a spool capable of winding a fishing line with a fishing tackle attached at the tip. The spool brake mechanism includes a spool braking unit 22, a spool control part 25, a rotation detection part 31 and a landing decision part 30. The spool braking unit 22 electrically brakes the spool in feeding-out of the fishing line. The spool control unit 25 electrically controls the braking force of the spool braking unit 22. The rotation detection unit 31 can detect the rotation of the spool electrically. The landing decision part 30 determines whether or not the fishing tackle lands on the water by the output of the rotation detection unit 31 after starting casting.
