In order to cultivate roof surfaces with greenery, the building-side underlying surface is covered by a root-resistant sheeting, and a substrate layer, essentially comprising aerated-concrete granules of a grain size of approximately 1-5 mm, is applied thereon with a mean layer height of approximately 2-5 cm. The seed is then sown on the substrate layer and, finally, by applying water, the seed is introduced in a suspension into the substrate layer.
