PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a promotor for inducing melanocyte differentiation having an effect in promoting and inducing differentiation of a stem cell to a melanocyte, and also to provide an external preparation containing the same which is excellent in gray hair preventing and improving effect and skin blackening effect.SOLUTION: Extracts of sea weeds belonging to genus Laminaria and genus Undaria include an excellent promoting effect of inducing melanocyte differentiation and a promoting effect for melanin synthesis by promoting the induction of melanocyte differentiation.
