PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water quality improvement method that reliably removes water plants close to the water surface of a water area and does not affect the growth environment of other living things in the water area.
SOLUTION: A fluid body 20 including the water plants 21 and water 2 close to the water surface of the water area 10 is introduced to an inner part 31a forming the dark chamber of a light shielding container 31. Favorably, the light shielding container 31 has a tubular shape. Till at least a part of the water plants 21 are killed, the fluid body 20 is allowed to stay in the inner part 31a of the light shielding container. Then, at least water 23 in the fluid body 20 is drained from the light shielding container 31.
