PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting disease, such as oral cancer, in a patient, using a viewing scope to investigate the tissues of the patient, and to provide a system.SOLUTION: The method includes exciting and detecting fluorescence from the tissue. The fluorescence is then be evaluated, and the possibility of certain diseases such as cancer can be determined. The system includes an ambient light management system (ALMS) that manages background light in a room.
