The present invention discloses a valve stent for implantation in a dysfunction or lesion atrioventricular annulus. The valve stent is expandable from folded to expanded for minimally invasive delivery and has a low profile at the atrial or upper side to achieve improved hemodynamics and provide the ability to manufacture replacement valves with large diameters. The present invention also includes a delivery device, which is specifically designed for implantation of the valve stent and provides the potential for controlled and precise placement of the valve stent on the atrioventricular rim.
