A gastric tube (100) for use in a bariatric procedure includes an elongate tube (110) and a cannulated plug (120) coupled to the elongate tube. The elongate tube has a proximal end portion (110a) and a distal end portion (110b). The elongate tube defines a lumen (116) along a length thereof. The proximal end portion defines an opening (117) in communication with the lumen. The elongate tube includes a blunt tip (112) and an outer surface (118a) . The blunt tip is formed on the distal end portion. The outer surface defines a side opening (116a, 116b) in communication with the lumen. The cannulated plug includes a proximal end (126a) and a distal end (126b). The proximal end is configured for connection to a vacuum source (152). The distal end is configured for removable receipt in the opening of the proximal end portion of the elongate tube to control a flow of one of aspiration and irrigation through the lumen.
