PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of dispersing disinfectants over large areas, such as rooms, buildings, industrial complexes, commuter rail lines, battlefields or the like.SOLUTION: The method of dispersing disinfectants includes the steps of: (a) dispersing smoke and steam generated from biocidal oil with mediating air property, such as soybean fatty acid methyl ester or the like by a smoke generating machine to area contaminated by microorganisms, such as pathogen or the like, in an effective amount for decontamination purposes； and (b) allowing the smoke and steam to mitigate the pathogen.【課題】部屋、建物、コンビナート、通勤路線、または戦場等の広いエリアにわたって消毒可能な消毒方法を提供する。【解決手段】（ａ）病原体等の微生物汚染されたエリアに、燻煙発生機等により大豆脂肪酸メチルエステル等の空気媒介性生物致死性油から発生させた燻蒸気を、汚染除去目的に有効な量で分散させる工程、および、（ｂ）上記燻蒸気で該病原体を減弱させる工程、を包含する消毒方法。【選択図】なし
