PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire which can exert excellent penetration properties and torque transmission properties sometimes while keeping flexibility.SOLUTION: A guide wire 1 in the invention includes: a bottomed and hollow core shaft 11 which has one or more openings 11e in the middle in an axial direction； an expansion part 31 which is provided to cover at least one part of an outer periphery of the core shaft 11 and communicates the opening 11e while the inside is in a tightly closed state； and a coil body 41 which is wound around the core shaft 11 for covering an outer periphery of the expansion part 31.
