The present invention relates to a composition for topical application consisting of an aqueous phase and an oily phase, which are separate and transparent, comprising at least one surfactant that is liquid at room temperature and at atmospheric pressure, with an HLB <;8 and chosen from fatty acid esters of sugar and alkyl polyglucosides, at least one branched alkane comprising from 8 to 18 carbon atoms, and from 0 to 4% by weight of silicone oils relative to the total weight of the composition.The composition according to the invention makes it possible to obtain, after shaking, an emulsion that rapidly separates again into two transparent phases, having a perfectly sharp interface and with no appearance of droplets that remain attached to the walls of the transparent container.The composition in accordance with the invention has the same makeup-removing efficacy and better sensory properties, and in particular it leaves less greasy residue on the skin.
