Plants are grown on volume of inert grow medium (i.e. media) 2 (see Figure 1), contained in container 6, the containers are stacked upon one another, creating a tower, when water in the media reaches a certain level a bell syphon 7 situated in each reservoir, drains the water to the next lower reservoir； as the water is drained it draws air. The water absorbs contaminates from the air, in particular nitrogen oxides. The nitrogen oxide is converted to nitrate and in-turn absorbed into the plant through the roots. The lowest reservoir contains a volume of water. The water is pumped to the top reservoir. This process is repeated down the levels of the tower of containers.
