An object of the present invention is to provide acomposition for external application that is applied to a part ofthe skin to more effectively elicit the useful effects of anadenine compound such as adenine, adenosine, and a phosphoricester of adenosine, and that has long-lasting effects andenhanced skin-moisturizing effects. A gel composition forexternal application containing an adenine compound such asadenine, adenosine, and a phosphoric ester of adenosine isprepared by using agar as a gelling agent. The gel composition isfurther prepared in the form of a sheet-like adhesive patch. Thegel composition in the form of a sheet-like adhesive patch iskept immersed in an aqueous solution containing the adeninecompound.
