Disclosed is a patient support apparatus comprising a base 34, a support frame 36, and a lift assembly 70. The lift assembly comprises a lift member 72,74 having a first end 80,82 movably coupled to the base, and a second end 84,86 pivotally connected to the support frame at a fixed pivot axis P2. The apparatus further comprises a guide 104,106 configured such that said first end is displaced vertically relative to the base as the lift member pivots about the fixed pivot axis. The guide may be obliquely oriented relative to the base, and may comprise a slide-bearing track. The patient support apparatus may further comprise a second guide and a second lifting member. Also disclosed is a patient support comprising a base, a support frame, a lift assembly, a guide, an actuator, and a driven member to be driven by the actuator. Further disclosed is a patient support comprising a base, a support frame, a lift assembly, a guide, and an actuator； wherein the guide comprises a guided body.
