ABSTRACT A walking aid for a four-legged animal having disabled hind legs comprises an engagement member for engaging a body portion between fore legs and hind legs of the animal a collapsible resting mechanism connected to the engagement member and to at least one wheel assembly in contact with an underlying surface and a locking mechanism operatively connectable to the at least one wheel assembly in such a way that the at least one wheel assembly is freely rotatable during forward motion of said walking aid but is rotationally immobilizable following rearward motion of the walking aid. The resting mechanism is operational to facilitate movement from a walking state to a resting state or from a resting state to a walking state only when the at least one wheel assembly is rotationally immobilized.Linvention porte sur une aide à la marche pour un animal à quatre pattes ayant des pattes arrières handicapées, laquelle aide comprend un élément dengagement destiné à venir en prise avec une partie de corps entre les pattes avant et les pattes arrières de lanimal un mécanisme de repos pliable relié à lélément dengagement et à au moins un ensemble roues en contact avec une surface sous-jacente et un mécanisme de verrouillage pouvant être relié de manière fonctionnelle au ou aux ensembles roues, de telle sorte que le ou les ensembles roues peuvent tourner librement pendant un déplacement vers lavant de ladite aide à la marche mais peut être immobilisé de manière rotative après un déplacement vers larrière de laide à la marche. Le mécanisme de repos peut faciliter le déplacement dun état de marche à un état de repos ou dun état de repos à un état de marche seulement lorsque le ou les ensembles roues sont immobilisés de manière rotative.
