Here is disclosed a hay feeder for enclosing a cylindrical bale of hay havingopposite first andsecond longitudinal portions. The hay feeder includes a semi-cylindricalhousing dimensioned toenclose the first longitudinal portion of the cylindrical bale, the semi-cylindrical housing havingan arched bottom and an open top having a rim. A lid is provided which isconfigured to fit therim to close the open top. The lid includes a frame supporting a flexible netwhich isdimensioned to enclose the second longitudinal portion of the cylindrical balewhen the lid isclosed on the semi-cylindrical housing.
