A protector is used by installing it on a needle body having a needle main body anda large diameter section that has a larger outer diameter than the needle mainbody, and the protector has a plate-like protector main body made from a metalmaterial. The protector main body has a first portion where a first hole throughwhich the needle body penetrate is formed, a second portion where a second holeis formed, and a third portion that connects the first portion and the second portion.The second hole in the second portion has a tubular section that allows the needlemain body to pass through but does not allow the large diameter section to passthrough. The protector is constructed such that, when a needle point is beingcovered, the tubular section is in contact with the large diameter section toprevent the needle body from moving to the base end side of the needle body.
