To enable a monitoring person to immediately confirm an abnormality when one occurs with a monitoring target person.SOLUTION: A monitoring system (1) comprises a door switching device (40), a biological information acquisition device (10), a mobile robot (20), and a monitoring device (30). The monitoring device transmits to the mobile robot a movement command for moving the mobile robot when receiving an abnormality signal from the biological information acquisition device. The mobile robot patrols a patrol route previously set in a common region when it has not received a movement command, and departs from the patrol route when receiving a movement command and moves to a personal region designated by the movement command.
