The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating sepsis or septic shock, comprising N-(cyanomethyl)-4-[2-[[4-(4-morpholinyl)phenyl]amino]4-pyrimidinyl]-benzamide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient, and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating bacteremia or endotoxemia. It is confirmed that N-(cyanomethyl)-4-[2-[[4-(4-morpholinyl)phenyl]amino]4-pyrimidinyl]-benzamide (CYT387) is used for treating myelofibrosis and some cancers, prevents lipopolysaccharide-induced maturation, and inhibits activation of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced signaling pathway, thereby reducing expression of proinflammatory cytokines.
