An embodiment of a head mounted display apparatus includes a display unit； a strap harness including one or more straps； one or more pressure sensors； a microcontroller； and one or more automatic adjustment mechanisms for the one or more straps, wherein the microcontroller is to adjust the one or more straps by controlling operation of the one or more automatic adjustment mechanisms based at least in part on sensor data from the one or more pressure sensors.
