To provide complexes with improved solubility and stability comprising rifaximin and a complexing agent.SOLUTION: Disclosed herein is a tablet or capsule for pharmaceutical use comprising a complex of rifaximin and a complexing agent, where the complexing agent is polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) or cyclodextrin (CD) in the proviso that the complexing agent is neither hydroxybutenyl cyclodextrin nor derivatives thereof, the complex is amorphous, the complex shows improved solubility compared with a physical mixture of rifaximin and the complexing agent, and the ratio of rifaximin to the complexing agent is in a range of from 4:1 w/w tp 1:2 w/w.
