PURPOSE: A composition for suppressing hair loss or promoting hair growth is provided to promote proliferation and migration of dermal papilla cells and expression of growth factors, thereby being used as a raw material for drugs or cosmetic products for suppressing hair loss and promoting hair growth. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing hair loss or promoting hair growth contains vimentin proteins as active ingredients. The vimentin proteins are derived from mammals. The mammal is human. The vimentin proteins include natural vimentin proteins or recombinant vimentin proteins. The vimentin proteins contain a functional equivalent or a functional derivative of the natural vimentin proteins or the recombinant vimentin proteins.본 발명은 모유두세포(dermal papilla cell)의 증식 촉진과 세포 이동 및 성장인자 발현 증가 기능을 갖는 비멘틴(vimentin)의 용도에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 모낭에서 각화세포(keratinocyte), 멜라닌 세포(melanocyte) 등으로 분화되어 머리카락을 자라게 하고, 모낭을 유지시켜 탈모를 예방할 수 있도록 하는 모유두세포의 증식을 촉진시키는 비멘틴의 새로운 용도에 관한 것이다. 따라서, 본 발명은 비멘틴의 증식을 통한 탈모 억제 및 발모 치료 효과에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
