Disclosed is an absorbent article (1) which comprises a liquid-permeable surface sheet (20), a liquid-impermeable rear surface sheet (30), and an absorbent body (60) which is disposed between the surface sheet (20) and the rear surface sheet (30). The absorbent article is attached to an outer garment which is worn by a person during use of the absorbent article, and further comprises a stomach-side part (11) which is positioned on the stomach side of the wearer, a back-side part (12) which is positioned at the back side, and a crotch part (13) which is positioned between the stomach-side part (11) and the back-side part (12), when the article is being worn. The absorbent article (1) also comprises a fixing member (70) which is provided on at least the stomach-side part (11) on the surface on the opposite side to the contact surface with the wearer when said article is being worn, and which serves to fix the absorbent article (1) to the outer garment. A pair of truncated chevron-shaped slits (S1, S1) whereof the spacing opens out towards the back-side part (12) is provided from the crotch part (13) as far as the back-side part (12) of the absorbent body (60).
