Further, two illumination lenses are placed in the distal end portion to be point-symmetric with respect to a center axis of the objective lens when the distal end portion is seen from the distal end direction, and in such a manner that illumination ranges by the two illumination optical systems are along a direction of a shorter length of a vertical direction and a lateral direction in an endoscopic image that is obtained via the observation optical system.
