PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface sheet for an absorbent article which is capable of stably retaining the shape of projecting parts, having a center area excellent in the capability of preventing the liquid from returning to the surface and side areas excellent in the capability of transferring the liquid to an absorber, and capable of easily and effectively improving the capability of the absorbent article preventing the liquid from returning and leaking.
SOLUTION: The surface sheet for the absorbent article is used in the surface of the absorbent article in contact with the skin, and has the structure with recesses and projections. The surface sheet has the center area M in which a number of projections 6 are regularly formed, and side areas S and S located on both sides of the center area M. The center area M has an upper layer sheet 2 and a lower layer sheet 3. The sheets 2 and 3 are partially joined to each other to form a number of joints 4. The upper sheet 2 projects in areas other than the joints 4 to form a number of the projections 6. Projections 7 whose height is lower than the height of the projections 6 in the center area M are formed, or no projections are formed, in the pair of the side areas S and S.
