The invention relates to an animal marking and identification tag which isintended to receive a protrusion using an irreversible joining technique. Theinventive tag comprises upper (4) and lower (3) shells which house anelectronic member (12) therebetween. The shells (3, 4) are assembled to oneanother by means of laser welding. The upper shell (4) comprises at least twoelements (5, 6) which are assembled such as to extend axially from oneanother, said elements including a dark base element (5) which serves as anobstacle to the laser beam and a brightly-coloured top element (6) whichrenders the tag visible.
