PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilization or pest control system and a sterilization or pest control method, in which sufficient sterilization or pest control effect may be exerted for fruits and vegetables using a sterilization or pest control gas having a sterilization or pest control effect at a gas concentration or exposure time that does not cause damage to the fruits and vegetables.SOLUTION: A storage unit 7 stores combinations of the gas concentration of sterilizing or pest-controlling gas and the exposure time of the fruits and vegetables to the sterilizing or pest-controlling gas as sterilizing or pest-controlling conditions for each kind of fruits and vegetables. A selection designation receiving unit 51 receives selection of the type of a fruit and vegetable and designation of the exposure time. A gas concentration determination processing unit 52 reads from the storage unit 7 the sterilization or pest control conditions corresponding to the type of fruits and vegetables whose selection has been accepted by the selection designation accepting unit 51, and determines a gas concentration corresponding to the exposure time whose designation has been accepted by the selection designation accepting unit 51.
