Disclosed is a method for the isolation of extracellular vesicles, includingexosomes, from aliquid sample, the method comprising the steps of: adjusting the pH of aliquid samplecomprising extracellular vesicles to a preselected, binding pH contacting theliquid samplewith silicon carbide, wherein at the preselected, binding pH, theextracellular vesicles bind tothe silicon carbide and eluting the bound extracellular vesicles from thesilicon carbide. Theliquid samples can comprise bodily fluids. Further disclosed is a method forproducing aliquid sample, substantially depleted of extracellular vesicles, includingexosomes.
