A furnace head (12) is provided on a dental baking furnace or press furnace with a furnace base (14), which has a support surface for at least one dental restoration part, which furnace head is connected to the furnace base (14) by way of a hinge mechanism (16) mounted on the furnace base (14) and which can be pivoted using this device against the furnace base (14). The action pivots about a pivot axis (40), which extends essentially parallel to the support surface and is effected by a motor (42) acting on the hinge mechanism (16) to provide the pivoting motion of the furnace head (12). The pivot axis (40) extends outside the furnace head (12) and outside the hinge mechanism (16).
